3. Questions that came up during my mentorship:
What does it take to become a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (qualities and skills)?
How can you become a CLS (major and classes)?
Are there similar jobs to being a CLS with actual patient contact?
Interpretive
4. The medical field is very interesting and has a wide range of jobs. While working in the lab at my mentorship I got a feel for the medical field in a hospital setting. I have been considering being a Clinical Laboratory Scientist as a future career. It was good to learn what I would be doing if I continue down that path. I even got a chance to perform some of the tasks they accomplish on a daily basis.
Applied
5. I could easily picture myself as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and will keep it as an option for a future career. However, I have decided I will not be using it for my senior project. I found that when you are a CLS, patient contact is very rare and it is more of a behind the scenes job. I want to be more involved in the direct care of patients and explore other medical fields. This is why I have chosen Nursing as my new topic.
